Simon Page Simon's Frogeye

Simon Page has been racing since before I was born (well almost). You'd hardly guess it though when you watched him on the track in 1999.
Having said that, in '98 He was 6th in the drivers standings trophy and 2000 saw Simon finish in 11th place, so it looks like '99 was a bad year for him.
it started like this :- First track (Croix-en-Ternois), First practice, First Bend, First trip to the gravel , First visit to steward of the course !
He did improve, and even got so fast that he collected a speeding ticket in Holland, on his way to the track later in the year. I'm not sure he ever got any quicker on the track though. Maybe we should tell him that the guys with the flags are only interested in our speed when they wave a yellow or red flag !
Thanks to a generous French insurance company & a road accident in France, Simon financed his 1999 season. A couple more accidents like that & he'll be racing Formula 1 in the year 2002.
Simon could easily mistaken for Grizzly Adams, since it doesn't look like razors or hairdresser have been invented in his home town.
He is accompanied to every race by his long term girlfriend Jill & his Father , cunningly disguised as a Mechanic.
Simon has been known to lend out his tools occasionally. - A personal thanks here - Steve.

Simon's Car
A standard frogeye silhouete. It is mainly steel with the exception of the front end. It is black & Simon runs without a front screen, just having a small aeroscreen on the scuttle. He also has a tonneau cover to try to help the aerodynamics a little. Maybe because Simon is about as heavy as I am ( NOT light !) when the front track was checked ( a few years ago now) it was found to be "a little bit too wide". I still don't understand how just adding a 16 stone (224 lbs for you Amercans & 101 Kgs for us Europeans) driver can cause a car to squat so low that the track widens !!
Simon informs me that his car was road legal for 2000. Another racing car with a horn ?
It runs with a 1380cc Engine, Single Weber Carb, a Straight Cut Close Ratio gearbox & new in 2000 was an LSD (in the car that is, not in his Blood !)
Simon also owns a turbocharged Frogeye ( doesn't use it in the FISC series though!) as featured in Daniel Stapleton's book. ( Included in our Merchandising section)
